Warning Letter issued to Alliance Pipeline and two contractors

We have issued a warning letter to Alliance Pipeline Ltd., Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd. and Subsurface Construction Corporation for unsafe work practices related to a near-miss incident in March 2023. A contractor was installing steel piles into the ground and had crossed into the Right of Way near La Glace, Alberta. The closest pile was 22 inches away from an operating high-pressure natural gas pipeline owned by Alliance. The companies were not following all of the rules outlined in our Onshore Pipeline Regulations or our Damage Prevention Regulations (DPR-A and DPR-O).
We expect our regulated companies and their contractors to ensure safe work practices to protect people, property and the environment.
