About the Library

We are committed to preserving the history and knowledge of the CER while making trusted information accessible to the public, researchers, industry and other interested audiences. Although the public cannot borrow materials directly from the Library, many public, academic and corporate libraries can request items on your behalf through our interlibrary loan service.

Service Standard: Library staff strive to reply to all client requests within one business day.

Collections

We take great pride in collecting and preserving literature about the CER. Not only do we hold a full collection of all hearing materials, such as exhibits, hearing transcripts, and Reasons for Decision, we also have a complete collection of our reports, studies, and research papers.

Our collection includes:

  • Hearing materials, including exhibits, hearing transcripts, and Reasons for Decision
  • CER reports, studies, research papers, and publications
  • Federal legislation, regulations, and regulatory decisions
  • Decision documents from other Canadian and international jurisdictions
  • Books, standards, annual reports, speeches, and industry studies
  • Reference materials, including dictionaries, encyclopedias, directories, and industry indexes
  • Audio and video resources
  • Magazines and journals covering oil, natural gas, electricity, and other energy topics

Hours of Operation and Access:

  • 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday onsite access and online service on Friday (excluding Canadian Statutory Holidays).
  • Library located on the second floor of the Center10 building (517 10 Ave SW Calgary, AB T2R 0A8)
  • The CER Library requires all external clients to call or email us prior to coming to the Library.
