Reporting of confirmed COVID-19 cases at CER-regulated worksites

On 10 September 2020 the CER issued a letter requesting notification of confirmed COVID-19 cases at CER-regulated worksites. The CER initially required this information at the outset of the pandemic to aide it in assessing exposure risk for field related activities conducted by its Inspection Officers.  As the CER works directly with companies to assess such risks unique to each field activity, this information is no longer required. These notifications are no longer required effective 26 January 2022.

CER Inspection Officers may request this information during compliance verification activities to verify the implementation of controls to prevent, manage, and mitigate the risks associated with COVID-19. CER staff may also request this information ahead of and following field inspections to assess the risk for CER inspection staff and those accompanying them.

This letter does not impact other COVID-19 reporting requirements imposed by local, provincial, or other federal authorities including the Canada Labour Code.

Yours sincerely,
