Secretary of the Commission

I am pleased to announce that Ramona Sladic has accepted the position of Secretary of the Commission at the Canada Energy Regulator (CER) on an indeterminate basis. Starting today, Ramona Sladic replaces Jean-Denis Charlebois who has been occupying the position of Secretary of the Commission since May 2020.

Ramona Sladic is a lawyer and an experienced federal public servant joining the CER from the Privy Council Office (PCO) legal services sector, specializing in environmental and natural resources matters.  She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B.) with a marine law specialization from Dalhousie University Law School, and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) with an environmental law specialization from George Washington University Law School, where she attended as a Fulbright scholar. Previous to her role at PCO, Ramona practiced law with Global Affairs Canada, focusing on international oceans treaty and resolutions development before the United Nations, and related multilateral processes. She also practiced as a Justice Canada lawyer with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Northern region in Yellowknife, focusing on resource project development, environmental assessments, and Indigenous matters.
