CER Response to B.C. Flooding – December 6, 2021 Update
On Sunday, December 5, 2021, Trans Mountain safely restarted the existing Trans Mountain pipeline at reduced operating pressure.
Safety is always the number one priority of the CER, and we have worked closely with Trans Mountain since the flooding events in B.C. to oversee a phased approach of the safe return to service. The CER will continue to closely monitor the pipeline’s operation, including having inspection officers and Indigenous Monitors on the ground in B.C.
We are focused on providing safety and environmental oversight as the effects of the flooding in B.C. continue to impact CER-regulated infrastructure. We will continue to work closely with Trans Mountain, other CER-regulated companies and government partners on a safe return to normal operations. There have been no injuries or releases associated with CER-regulated infrastructure reported because of the floods.
