May 18, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta – National Energy Board
The National Energy Board (NEB) will issue its recommendation report for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project on May 19, 2016 shortly after 2:00 pm MDT.
Accredited media are invited to attend a media lock-up beginning at 12:30 pm MDT, in either Calgary or Vancouver, to allow reporters to review the report prior to release. Senior technical leaders will be available to answer questions.
Media must be able to present government issued photo ID at the media event along with a business card and/or a letter requesting accreditation on official letterhead of a media organization, signed by the Publisher, Editor-in-chief, or Assignment Editor (along with their contact information).
Media are required to register in advance to receive the details to participate in the media lock-up. The NEB may require proof of employment or assignment at that time.
The press conference will begin shortly after 2:00 pm MDT. Media who are unable to attend the press conference in person will be able to register to participate via teleconference.

EMBARGO PROCEDURES
The recommendation report for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project will be available when the lock-up starts at 12:30 pm MDT, and will remain under embargo until released by the NEB after financial markets close.
Once the lock-up has commenced, no one may leave the room or contact their office until the embargo is lifted.
When entering the lock-up, journalists, crew members, media guests, etc. will be required to sign an undertaking to respect the release arrangements and not to remove, release or communicate documents, materials or information, or other records of any nature whatsoever, to anyone in any manner (including the use of wireless communication devices such as wireless microphones, wireless modems and air cards, wireless keyboards and printers, cellular phones, and smartphones) until they are released from the embargo.
The NEB reserves the right to refuse access to any future NEB embargoed releases to any person and/or their organization that breaches the terms of the undertaking.
The undertaking stipulates that communication devices that are not allowed in the lock-up must be turned in at the entrance to the secured reading area. NEB officials will hold them until the embargo is lifted.

DEVICES ALLOWED IN THE MEDIA LOCK-UP
Laptops, notebooks, tablets (7" or 17.5 cm and larger, with no phone functionality) and other portable computers. However, media will be required to switch these devices to “airplane mode” with all radio (receiving or transmitting) and internal built-in wireless functionalities disabled. Those who fail to do so will be requested to turn in their computer/tablet.
DEVICES NOT ALLOWED IN THE MEDIA LOCK-UP
Wireless communication devices including cellular phones, BlackBerry units, smartphones, iPhones, wireless keyboards and printers, two-way radios, personal digital assistants, and/or any other removable wireless communication devices including modems, air cards, mobile hotspots, and wireless microphones.
