2025–26 Annual Report of the Commission of the Canada Energy Regulator - Looking Ahead
In 2026-27 and beyond, the Commission will continue to carry out its mandate, including the economic and lifecycle regulation of pipelines while meeting legislated time limits and service standards. Implementation of efficiency initiatives will build on recent progress, enabling the Commission to further simplify processes and offer predictable timelines.
The Commission is working with the Government of Canada to support coordinated and streamlined review processes for major projects, while maintaining safety, environmental, and rights protections, as well as the principles of natural justice.
The Commission remains dedicated to ensuring its decisions are consistent with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and to developing outcome-based approaches to regulation, including in the standards and expectations placed on regulated industries.
