Governance structures

Not applicable – The NEB conducts GBA+ at the Program activity level. There is no formal enterprise-wide GBA+ implementation plan at this time.

Human resources

Not applicable – GBA+ analysis is conducted through Program activities and is not formally assigned as a separate enterprise-wide activity at this time.

Planned initiatives

The NEB will continue to enhance opportunities for public and Indigenous participation in NEB adjudication processes to ensure it responds to issues of concern to Canadians.

1. Review of adjudication processes to ensure they are working for Indigenous Peoples.

Performance indicators for this initiative will be the targets and measures for our core responsibility, Energy Adjudication.

  • Percentage of surveyed participants who indicate that adjudication processes are transparent.
  • Percentage of surveyed participant funding recipients who agree that participant funding enabled their participation in an adjudication process.

Performance consideration will be reviewed quarterly by the NEB’s Performance Measurement and Evaluation Committee, which is chaired by the NEB’s Chair and CEO.
The NEB is moving forward with collecting and testing feedback provided on our engagement efforts so we can improve our approach to how we meaningfully engage with Indigenous Peoples and Canadians.

2. Meaningful engagement with Indigenous Peoples.

Performance indicators for this initiative will be the targets and measures for our core responsibility, Engagement.

  • Percentage of surveyed Indigenous Peoples who engaged with the National Energy Board who indicate that the engagement was meaningful.

Performance consideration will be reviewed quarterly by the NEB’s Performance Measurement and Evaluation Committee, which is chaired by the NEB’s Chair and CEO.
