Westcoast Energy Inc. – Upper South Taylor Hill HDD Pipe Replacement Project
Project Background
Westcoast Energy Inc. (Westcoast) has filed a project application for the Upper South Taylor Hill HDD Pipe Replacement Project. The proposed project includes the replacement of a segment of the Fort St. John Mainline MML1 due to slope movement found at KP 2.7 at the Upper South Taylor Hill. Westcoast is seeking permission to replace approximately 2,700 m of the existing NPS 30 pipeline at this location and install approximately 2,700 m of new NPS 30 pipe by means of Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD). The existing segment will be decommissioned. The HDD will install the new segment within an existing Westcoast right-of-way (ROW), and in new ROW. The new ROW will be a mix of Crown and private land. Temporary workspace (TWS) will be acquired by Westcoast to allow for HDD work sites. Supporting work for the Project includes building access, soil stripping, clearing, trenching, welding, lowering-in pipe, backfilling, and reclamation activities.
