NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. – NPS 6 Gregory Northeast Lateral Modifications
Project Background
The NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) Gregory Northeast Lateral Modifications project is to reconfigure an NGTL customer connection and flow path along NGTL’s NPS 6 Gregory Northeast Lateral located approximately 70km northeast of Brooks, Alberta. The Project consists of three main activities:
- The installation of a hot-tap connection, which includes the installation of approximately 10 to 20 meters of combined NPS 2 and NPS 6 piping and associated side valve assembly to tie into the existing NGTL NPS 30 North Lateral Extension Loop No. 2 – Cessford Section. This connection will enable continued service on the 3.8km southwest portion of the Gregory Northeast Lateral servicing the NGTL Gregory NE Receipt Meter Station.
- the isolation of the Gregory Northeast Lateral from NGTL’s NPS 26 North Lateral and NPS 24 North Lateral Loop by installing blind flanges or cap assemblies on the two below-ground side valve assemblies within NGTL’s fenced Blood Indian Creek Receipt Meter Station site boundaries.
- The decommissioning in-place of the 6km northeast section of the Gregory Northeast Lateral from the isolation location to the hot-tap location.
The Project is located entirely on freehold land and public lands managed by Special Areas Board Area No. 2, within existing NGTL disposition and/or leases. The project does not require the acquisition of permanent new land. Temporary workspace is anticipated to be located on NGTL’s previously disturbed existing rights-of-way.
The planned in-service date is October 2024. The planned completed decommissioning date is November 2024.
