Dear Ms. Watson:

Imperial Oil Resources Ltd. (IORL) - Letter and Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Dated 19 August 2013 for the Norman Wells Flowlines in Response to the Board Order CO-001-2013

The Board has reviewed the IORL letter and CAP dated 19 August 2013 in response to Board Order CO-001-2013 (the Order) dated 19 July 2013.

The Board is satisfied that the CAP proposed by IORL is reasonable given the interim mitigation measures that IORL has proposed, and as such IORL has met Conditions 1 and 2 of the Order. The Board is satisfied that the information provided by IORL for Conditions 4 to 6 regarding the effects of flowline abandonment on production and ultimate oil recovery is sufficient.

With respect to Condition 3, IORL requested semi-annual updates of its progress in implementing the CAP versus quarterly reports as specified in the Order. The Board reminds IORL that Condition 3 of the Order directs IORL to provide to the Board reports concerning its progress on implementing the CAP. Acknowledging the work execution constraints in Norman Wells, and seeking to have IORL provide meaningful updates on CAP implementation, the Board accepts IORL’s proposed change to semi-annual reports from quarterly reports as directed in the Order.

Should you have any questions, please contact Sheri Young, Secretary of the Board, at 403-221-3496.

Yours truly,

Sheri Young
Secretary of the Board
