2025–26 Annual Report of the Canada Energy Regulator – What the Future Holds
Looking ahead, Canada’s energy landscape will continue to evolve in response to changing global dynamics, market conditions and expectations around energy security and sustainability.
We remain grounded in our strategic priorities as the shared lens that focuses our work: Trust and Confidence, Reconciliation and Implementing the UN Declaration, Competitiveness and Regulatory Excellence, and Preparing for the Energy Future.
These priorities will guide our work as we continue to strengthen lifecycle oversight, protect the environment and keep Canadians safe, enhance regulatory efficiency, and support timely, evidence-based decisions. Advancing Reconciliation will remain central, with a continued focus on meaningful Indigenous participation in regulatory oversight. At the same time, we will provide independent energy information to support informed decisions in a complex and changing environment.
While the context in which we operate may change given the dynamics of the energy sector, our regulatory mandate and responsibilities are clear and consistent. We look forward to continually improving how we work to deliver on our mandate with excellence.
