Regulatory Documents – Find what you need, not what you don’t
Have you ever had a hard time finding a document on the National Energy Board’s website?
There are more than 300,000 documents in our online repository and looking for something specific can be like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. The good news is that we are working hard to provide a solution to this problem.
The beta version of REGDOCS, our new simplified,
user-friendly interface for accessing regulatory documents is now live!
It features an improved search engine that gives you relevant results in an easy-to-read format along with some other helpful options to improve the way you search for documents.
You will notice a few familiar features since the basis of our filing structure will not change. The interface will pull results using existing metadata, such as the Filing ID. There is also no impact to the Online Application System, Participation Portal, or electronic filing system for submitting applications and other documents.
The new tool has some other features that we think you will find helpful, such as:
- IntelliSense search – Start typing a search term and suggested options will appear in the drop down menu without you having to type the entire word;
- Favorites – Pin your frequently used regulatory documents to the side of your screen;
- Filters – Easily filter your results by different categories; and,
- Frequently Accessed Items – Easily access the top ten most commonly visited regulatory documents or folders for a particular search term or project.
As with any change, there will be new steps to get used to. If you have bookmarked a document or a page, you will be re-directed to the new link. Alternatively, you will be redirected to the index page where you can simply type in the Filing ID. You also have the option to pin up to 50 of your favorite documents to the favorites menu at the side of your screen.
Instead of the Inbox you used to see on the index page, REGDOCS includes a “Recent Filings” option that you can filter by filing date. As soon as a document is e-filed it is searchable in the new interface and project folders.
Our beta version of REGDOCS launched December 20th. We appreciate your patience as we continue development of the system using feedback from users like you – you can expect it to change over time and sometimes be slow to react.
