Energy Commodity Indicators – Energy Transitions

This dashboard presents a graphical overview of key indicators for Canada's energy transition. An energy transition is a shift away from one type of fuel source to another, or the changing composition of primary energy supply. Sources for this data include Environment and Climate Change Canada and the National Energy Board. The main indicators for this dashboard are:

  • Primary energy demand In Canada
  • GHG emissions in Canada by sector
  • Installed non-hydro renewables
  • Factors influencing energy demand
  • Looking forward – possible energy futures

For more information on Canada's energy transition, see the NEB's Canada's Energy Transition: Historical and Future Changes to Energy Systems report, published in April 2019.

Where applicable, totals for each dataset are available in the hover tooltip. Links to downloadable datasets are available at the bottom of this page.

Please send feedback on this dashboard to energy.markets@cer-rec.gc.ca.
