The CER and its predecessor, the National Energy Board (NEB)Footnote 8, is funded through parliamentary appropriations with approximately 99 percent of its costs recovered by the Government of Canada from the industry the CER, and formerly the NEB, regulates. Financial statements are prepared annually and audited by the Office of The Auditor General of Canada.
