  • Ms. Sletto joined the regulator in 2011 with extensive experience in strategic planning, policy development, strategic communications, and public administration.
  • She served as Vice-President, People and Communications Services before joining the Energy Adjudication Business Unit.
  • Before joining the organization, she worked with the federal department of Western Economic Diversification Canada in Calgary.
  • Previously, she worked with the Government of Saskatchewan in a variety of leadership roles.

Vice President, Communications and Engagement – Amy Jarek

Biographical Snapshot:

  • Ms. Jarek joined the regulator in September 2016.
  • She is a builder, innovator, partner, communicator and change leader with deep experience working internationally and across cultures.
  • She is responsible for transforming the way the organization involves Indigenous peoples and stakeholders in its regulatory processes and increasing awareness of its work amongst the Canadian public.
  • Ms. Jarek previously worked as Global Group Sustainability and Environment Manager with Tullow Oil UK, Vice President, Corporate Affairs with Talisman Energy Inc. and President of Wayword Consulting
  • Using her 20 plus years of energy experience, she established pioneering approaches to community relations and corporate responsibility.
  • She has also built diverse relationships to manage environmental, social and political risks associated with doing business across the globe.

Vice President, Information Data Management – Ryan Hum

Biographical Snapshot:

  • Mr. Hum joined the regulator in 2018.
  • He has had a long and distinguished career in public service in the departments of Health, the Food Inspection Agency, and Natural Resources, where he was Acting Director of Sustainable Mining Policy, Intergovernmental Affairs and Environmental Assessments.
  • He was also a founding member of the Government of Canada's Central Innovation Hub (housed at the Privy Council Office), where he served as Chief Designer and Data Scientist leading the design insights and data analytics practice to improve policy, program and service delivery.
  • He previously taught design, public policy and engineering at Carleton University, OCAD University and the University of Toronto.

  • Mr. Fox joined the organization as a regulatory economist in 1992.
  • He has served as a Director in several business units and has extensive experience in regulatory policy, energy information and process management.

Professional Leader, Northern Engagement – Dr. Brian Chambers

Biographical Snapshot:

  • Dr. Chambers joined the regulator in 2003.
  • He has worked extensively in the North of Canada for more than 35 years in both the private and public sector.
  • He was formerly Executive Director of the Northern Gas Project Secretariat and has held senior positions in local and regional government.
  • He has also served as a private consultant in the field of aboriginal land claim negotiations and natural resource regulatory regimes.

Professional Leader, Strategic Communications – Tom Neufeld

Biographical Snapshot:

  • Mr. Neufeld joined the regulator in 2015 as Vice President of Communications
  • As a strategic communications professional, he has served in the public and private sectors for over 20 years.
  • He has held a number of positions within the government of Alberta, including service at the Energy Resources Conservation Board, the Public Affairs Bureau, and with the province’s Executive Council Office.
  • Highlights of his career include serving as the Provincial Spokesman for the 2011 Alberta Royal Tour of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and working as part of the flood recovery communications team that served in High River, Alberta following the province’s 2013 flood.
